Population dynamics of Carasobarbus luteus in Shadegan International Wetland, Iran
Authors
Abstract:
Estimation of length at maturation and spawning time and determination of fishing prohibition time and optimum length for catch are of important information about a fish species. Seasonal samplings were conducted over a year to study population dynamic of Carasobarbus luteus in Shadegan wetland. Samples were collected from five sampling stations in Shadegan wetland (Salmane, Rogabe, Khoroosi, Mahshahr and Atish) from April to March, 2014-2015. From total number of 1600 samples, 269 individuals were male and 1331 individuals were female. Length-weight relationships were W=0.0136L3.0124 (R2=0.92) for males; W=0.0136L3.0117 (R2=0.91) for females, showing isometric growth pattern. Condition factor (K) was calculated to be 1.308±0.15 and 1.368±0.17 for the males and females, respectively, showing significant difference between the genders (P

Survey of some biological characteristics of Golden barb Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843) in the Shadegan Wetland
Golden barb, Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843), belongs to the Barbus genus and is one of the freshwater species of Iran and native to Shadegan wetland. Some biological characteristics of Carasobarbus luteus were studied in Shadegan Wetland. Monthly samples were collected from five stations; Doragh (Mahshahr), Rogabe, Khorosy, Salmane and Atish from April 2013 to Mars 2014. 1608 specimens (276...
full textCuliseta subochrea as a Bioindicator of Metal Contamination in Shadegan International Wetland, Iran (Diptera: Culicidae)
The quantity of some trace metals of mosquito larvae in Shadegan International Wetland from Iran was evaluated. Water, waterbed sediment, and mosquito larvae samplings were carried out from an urban site in the east of the wetland, using standard methods in December 2011. The identified Culiseta subochrea (Edwards) and Aedes caspius s.l. (Pallas) larvae, water, and waterbed sediment samples wer...
full textMonitoring and Prediction of Land Use/Cover Changes in Shadegan International Wetland, Iran
Quantifying land use/land cover changes is essential to monitor and assess the ecological consequences of human disturbances. Ecological condition and water quality of wetlands are highly related to the landscape characteristics, including land use/land cover (LULC) types and their fractions in the upland and the surrounding landscape. The changing characteristics of LULC in Shadegan Internatio...

In order to study the culicine mosquito fauna (Diptera: Culicidae: Culicinae) of the Shadegan wetland in southern Khouzestan Province of Iran, sampling was carried out using hand catch, total catch, and New Jersy light traps, from October 2008 to March 2009. A total of 2664 culicine mosquitoes were captured. Three genera and five species were identified, including Culex pipiens L., Cx. tritaeni...
full textEvaluation of effects of physico-chemical factors on chlorophyll-a in Shadegan International Wetland-Khouzestan Province - Iran
Measurement of chlorophyll-a can be considered important to investigate the primary production of an ecosystem. This study aimed to investigate chlorophyll-a concentration, primary production and the factors affecting them in Shadegan Wetland located in Khouzestan Province - Iran. Sampling for measuring (NO3, PO4, BOD5, DO, pH, EC, salinity, temperature) was performed seasonally at five samplin...
